Eight killed, several injured in Galyat road mishap

Incident occured as drivers raced on Murree Galyat road

MURREE:

At least eight people were killed and several others injured on Monday when a coaster fell into a ditch at Khaira Gali on Galyat Road.

According to Express News, two buses collided at Khaira Gali on Galyat Road in Murree and one fell into a ditch, killing eight people and injuring several others.

An eyewitness said that both the bus drivers were racing and the two buses collided due to high speed.

As soon as the incident was reported, a large number of locals rushed to the spot and started rescue operations on their own, while rescue and police teams arrived shortly after.

A spokesman for the rescue team said that a coaster fell into a ditch in the accident, which is causing difficulties in the operation.

He also informed that so far 12 people have been shifted to the Tehsil Headquarter Hospital in Murree, while the bodies of eight people have also been exhumed and the death toll is expected to rise.

Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Hamza Shahbaz has expressed regret over the loss of precious human lives in the Murree traffic accident and demanded a report.
