Temporary cattle market to be set up
The Rawalpindi Cantonment Board has announced to set up a temporary cattle market at Bhatta Chowk Ground on the occasion of Eidul Azha.
The cattle market at Bhatta Chowk will have an entry fee of Rs3,000 for large animals and Rs2,000 for small animals.
According to the Cantonment Board officials, a temporary cattle market would be set up at Bhatta Chowk Ground with an aim to facilitate the sale and purchase of animals for the residents of Rawalpindi and Islamabad.
Like every year, a wide field of Bhatta Chowk ground will be provided this year too. The market is divided into two parts, one of which will be reserved for small animals while the other will be provided for large animals. Adequate water, fodder, and lighting will be provided in the market.
The Cantonment Board has fixed the entrance fee for Bhatta Chowk Cattle Market, according to which, a trader will have to pay Rs3,000 on the entry of each cow and camel while for goats and sheep an entry fee of Rs2,000 per animal will be charged.
It has been decided to provide facilities to traders and animals entering the market. A veterinary medical camp will also be set up in the market to cater to the medical needs of the animals.
Officials said the market would open three weeks before Eidul Azha and traders from all over the country will reach Rawalpindi like every year.
They said that a plan will be made in collaboration with the district administration and the traffic police to ensure law and order as well as proper sanitation. The entire market area will be sealed off from all sides to ensure tax collection, they said, adding that traders and buyers will be able to enter the market through designated entrances.
