Reviews steps being taken for prevention of dengue, cholera

Punjab Chief Minister Hamza Shahbaz has said a fool-proof mechanism has been devised for supply of subsidised flour to the market which, he stressed, would lessen the difficulties of the masses.

The chief minister expressed these views while chairing =a meeting about flour supply in the province at his office on Friday. He directed the authorities concerned that supply of subsidised flour be ensured in every nook and corner of the province.

Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari, Ch Muhammad Iqbal, Bilal Yasin, PML-N leader Atta Tarar, Secretary and director food and others attended the meeting.

The CM pointed out that a Rs160 decrease has been made in the price of 10-kg flour bag and supply of government wheat to flour mills has been started.

“The government would also decrease prices of sugar and ghee and recommendations should be submitted without delay,” he said, adding that this would create ease for the general public.

“The focal point of our politics is service to humanity, he added. The 10-kg flour bag would be available at Rs490, instead of Rs650 and steps are also being taken to reduce the prices of ghee and sugar,” he added. Hamza also chaired a meeting at CMO in which steps being taken for the prevention and treatment of dengue and cholera diseases came under review.

The CM while talking on this occasion emphasised that it is our first and foremost priority to stop these spread of dengue and cholera in the province at all costs.

Hamza directed the departments concerned to deliver their duties in a proactive manner and no stone should be left unturned for the prevention of these diseases. He further directed that committees be constituted at the lower tiers so that surveillance mechanism be improved.

Hamza directed that implementation on the monitoring of SOPs should also be carried on with continuity. CM warned the concerned departments to come into action and no negligence will be tolerated in this regard.

Health secretary in his briefing about the dengue and cholera diseases in the province informed the meeting that there were 101 confirmed dengue patients in Punjab.

He further apprised that for the prevention of cholera, the process of chlorination and other proposals were reviewed. Member Punjab Assembly Kh Salman Rafique, Kh. Imran Nazir, Secretary Finance, Secretary Health and concerned officers attended the meeting.

Meanwhile, the chief minister expressed his sorrow over the death of senior politician Sardar Asif Ahmad Ali. In his condolence message, he extended sympathies to the bereaved heirs and prayed to Allah Almighty to rest the departed soul in eternal peace.

MPAs namely Jugnu Mohsin, Bilal Asghar Warriach and Moawia Azam met with Chief Minister Hamza Shahbaz and congratulated him for bringing a record decrease in flour price. Jugnu Mohsin maintained that a genuine relief is given to people while Bilal Asghar Warriach termed it an appreciable step.

“You have proved that your heart beats for the common man,” added Moawia Azam.
