IGP reviews security measures for foreigners
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Rao Sardar Ali Khan chaired a meeting of the Special Protection Unit (SPU) regarding security arrangements for foreign nationals.
Orders were also issued to further improve security arrangements at sensitive installations, diplomatic buildings and key government offices.
In any case, implementation of SOPs issued by the Home Department regarding security of foreign nationals should be ensured.
The IGP added that mock exercises would be conducted regularly to maintain the readiness of SPU personnel. IG Punjab also directed that SPU teams should perform their duties for the security of foreign nationals, sensitive places and government offices with utmost diligence and commitment.
Additionally, the process of registration of data of foreign nationals, especially Chinese, at airport SPU desks would be regularly reviewed. The IGP further stressed upon reviewing security arrangements at the residences and workplaces of Chinese nationals, experts and investors.
IGP Khan added that all RPOs and DPOs, including CCPO Lahore, would further improve the security arrangements of foreign nationals under personal supervision and there should be no reduction in resources and facilities required for SPU personnel to discharge their duties.
