The launch of the Orange Line BRT project is near as a fleet of 20 buses of Orange Line BRT arrived at the depot after clearance from Karachi port last night, said Provincial Minister for Information, Transport and Mass Transit Sharjeel Inam Memon.

In a statement, he said that 97% of the infrastructure work on the corridor has been completed. He said that the Orange Line will be launched once its system installation and mandatory training of bus drivers are completed.

The minister said that the Orange Line Corridor will provide safe and comfortable traveling facilities to the citizens of Orangi Town, North Nazimabad, and surrounding areas. Memon said that the buses cover a 3.88km corridor that starts from the Town Municipal Administration Office in Orangi Town and ends at Fatima Jinnah University for Women, Nazimabad.

Four stations equipped with modern facilities are constructed, he said. Memon maintained that the integration of the Orange Line into the Green Line have been ordered to make it cost-effective and lessen the burden of subsidy on the Sindh government.

Sindh Infrastructure Development Company has started working on the design of integration. He added that after the integration of both the BRTs, the Orange Line buses will run till Nagan Chowrangi.
