UHE establishes wellness center

Organisation will provide counselling for patients’ physical and mental health

LAHORE:

The University of Home Economics (UHE) established the Kanwal Wellness Center, a unique organization, in order to serve the public’s needs for optimal physical and mental health and wellbeing. The staff is comprised of highly qualified and experienced clinical counsellors, psychiatrists, and dietitians.

Vice-Chancellor University of Health Sciences Dr Javed Akram and Vice Chancellor UHE Prof. Dr Kanwal Ameen inaugurated the Center.

Prof. Dr Ameen was of the view that one should learn how to cope with mental stress, with the Center’s mission being to provide a holistic healing approach toward both physical and mental well-being. She added that before visiting the University’s Center, patients can make an appointment with staff by phone, and further details will be shared on University Portal.

She also announced receipt of a Rs500,000 donation from the Ali Zafar Foundation for the Center and expressed gratitude for the free assistance of renowned US-based clinical counsellor Dr Ali Kazim.

“I am happy that UHE has taken this great initiative for the mental well-being of the community and we are ready to provide training workshops, training for clinical counsellors, breast cancer awareness camps, and mammography workshops for university teachers,” said Dr Javed Akram.
