A private security company guard was killed in a firing incident in the Korangi 1½ area. His body was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for post-mortem.

The slain security guard was identified as 55-year-old Muhammad Iqbal Butt, son of Muhammad Khurshid Butt. The slain security guard was an employee of Ultra Security Company and a resident of Korangi.

In this regard, SHO Korangi Zahid Lodhi told The Express Tribune that the firing occurred during a robbery. The slain security guard was guarding the vehicle carrying the confectionery items. Meanwhile, four unidentified armed men riding on two motorcycles near Korangi 1½ opened fire as they intercepted the car.

The security guard died on the spot. The armed suspects took the vehicle away after removing the driver from the car. He said that the armed suspects left the confectionery vehicle near Chiniot Hospital in Korangi 2½ and fled.

The SHO said that the weapon of the slain security guard was present in the vehicle, while the armed robbers did not take anything away from the car.
