PM condoles death of UAE president
Expressing grief over the death of United Arab Emirates (UAE) President and Abu Dhabi ruler Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday offered condolences to President Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the new ruler of the country.
The prime minister, who made a brief detour to the Gulf nation on his way back from the UK, met the newly-elected president in the presence of other members of the royal family.
PM Shehbaz was accompanied by federal ministers Khawaja Mohammad Asif, Rana Sanaullah, and Pakistan’s ambassador to the country, Afzaal Mahmood.
The prime minister conveyed his profound sympathies and condolences on behalf of Pakistan’s leadership, government and people.
“Pakistan and the UAE are bound by a close fraternal relationship. Under the leadership of the late Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, the relationship between Pakistan and the UAE scaled new heights,” read an official statement.
The statement added that the late president’s invaluable contributions will be long remembered by the government and the people of Pakistan.
In solidarity with the brotherly people of UAE, the government of Pakistan has announced three-day national mourning from 13-15 May 2022, with the national flag flying at half-mast.
