ISLAMABAD:

A book launching ceremony titled "Conversations with my Father: Forty years on a daughter responds" by Muneeza Hashmi, daughter of famous poet Faiz Ahmed Faiz, was held at the Punjab Arts Council.

Speaking on the occasion, Hashmi said, “In this book, there is a form of me and my father that was hidden from the world. It is written in the book, including Faiz Sahib's happiness, bitterness, and virtues. How ideal a relationship can be between a father and daughter is also discussed.”

She said life is a continuous journey that is shorter for some and longer for others. Travelogues, women's rights and various events during his career are also recorded, she added. She thanked the Punjab Arts Council for organising the book launch.

Former RAC Resident Director Naheed Manzoor said that Faiz Ahmed Faiz was a progressive poet who always spoke of peace and humanity, due to which he was awarded a Medal of Distinction and Lenin Peace Award.

Arts Council Director Waqar Ahmed said that the book described the beautiful relationship between father and daughter, and that the position of daughters in Islam and in the east is very high. Writing a book for the father after so many years of Faiz Sahib's death is a testament to the everlasting love of the daughter for the father, he added.
