Petitioner accuses police of backing land grabber

Directs SP Complaint Cell Malir to submit report

KARACHI:

The police force which is supposed to protects the life and property of the citizens have been found becoming a party in land grabbing cases.

In one such cases, a resident of Malir, Muhamamd Siddique, filed a plea at Malir district court seeking protection from police highhandedness and harassment.

The court, on the petition of the affected citizen, directed the SP Complaint Cell Malir to submit a report.

In Karachi's Malir Court, Muhammad Siddique's petition regarding transfer of a citizen's house in someone else's name by the Site Super Highway Police was heard.

Siddique adopted a stance in a petition filed through Barrister Fayyaz Soomar against a woman named Amna and police action, saying his father bought a house six years ago in Scheme-33.

In November 2021, a woman named Amna tried to seize the house with the help of police. She along with her accomplices attacked the house.

On April 27, 2022, while leaving for Asar prayers, Siddique said, Amna abducted him with the help of police and took him to the police station where he was illegally detained and tortured. He claimed that Amna and her accomplices hurled threats of dire consequences including implication in false cases. He and his brother were also asked to sign a blank paper.

The petitioner told the court that the today the woman again came to his house with a police mobile and tried to break in.

He requested the higher authorities to restrain the officers of the concerned police station from misusing their powers.

The court sought a report from the SP Malir Complaints Cell on the petition.

The court directed the SHO of the concerned police station to appear before it on May 19.
