Robbers continue to strike at liberty
Despite claims of the Sindh police about decline in crime rate in the economic hub of the country, incidents of robbery and snatching are on the rise.
Unfazed by police and law enforcement agencies, three robbers looted a store and escaped from the scene in the Saudabad area of Malir. A suspect riding a motorcycle snatched a purse from a woman in the Korangi area and fled. Close Circuit Television (CCTV) camera footage of youths being robbed on motorcycles also came to light.
The robbers did not even care about hiding their faces with mask in front of the CCTV cameras.
Street criminals are striking with impunity in the city while the police authorities seem to have failed in crime control. Similarly, alleged police encounters - considered a shotcut for crime control by many cops - have also failed to deter the street criminals who have started committing crimes more fearlessly.
Reportedly, in Al-Mashreq Society located in Gulzar-e-Hijri, two suspects on a motorcycle looted four citizens sitting outside their house. The armed suspects snatched mobile phones, cash and other goods from the citizens at gunpoint and fled.
According to the footage, one of the suspects was wearing a surgical mask on his face, while the other accused was wearing a helmet. Police officials said that they have launched a search operation to arrest the robbers with the help of the CCTV footage.
Meanwhile, another CCTV camera footage of a robbery came to the light in which three robbers looted money from the cash counters of a supermarket in just 50 seconds and escaped.
Similarly, in Korangi No4, a suspect on a motorcycle snatched a purse from a woman passerby and fled.
