Two drown in Indus River in Haripur
A 22-year-old young man, named Hayat Gul, drowned in the deep water of River Raho at Nain Sukh near Khanpur Bridge on Thursday.
Police said that he was a resident of Quetta and came to a picnic with his friends. A local driver rescued Gul and brought him to the shore. He also informed Rescue 1122.
Soon after receiving information about the incident, the rescue workers reached the spot and shifted him to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Khanpur where doctors pronounced him dead.
In a separate incident, an 18-year-old man, identified as Saimullah Waheed, drowned in River Indus while bathing near the Ghazi Bharotha barrage.
Locals searched the body and handed it over to his family. Police said that he was a resident of Abbottabad and had gone to for an outing near Ghazi Bharotha Barrage with his friends. The weather was extremely hot so he started bathing in the river Indus and drowned.
Haripur Deputy Commissioner has imposed a ban on bathing and swimming under Section 144 but despite that people violate the ban.
Missing man found dead
The body of a 16-year-old boy, who had gone missing on May 8, was found from Mouza area within the limits of Khalabat police station on Thursday.
Police said that he was a resident of Razi Khan and he left the house without informing his family on May 8.
Police have registered a case against unidentified men. Police said that he was killed by firearms. The body was shifted the Haripur Trauma Centre and later handed over to the family.
Meanwhile, a young man from Haripur died in a traffic accident in the city of Milan, Italy. The family has begun efforts to take bring the body back to Haripur.
Sources say Aamir Khan Tanoli, son of Mubarak Khan, a resident of Haripur, along with his three friends died in the road accident yesterday. The family is in shock after the death of Aamir Khan who was in Italy for the past five years.
Khan spent most of his time abroad, and was looking for a job. Friends and other members of the community are also deeply saddened by the news. Aamir Khan was the nephew of late Chairman Irshad Khan and Mohammad Arif Khan and cousin of Tanoli Chairman Nadir Khan and Tanoli Youth Councilor City Ehtesham Gulzar.
Goats poisoned to death
A vegetable farm owner allegedly poisoned four goats to death in a fit of anger in Sarai Naimat Khan, Haripur on Thursday.
The owner of the goats named Sajjad Ahmed who is also a farmer informed the police that the vegetable farm owner is involved in the goats’ killing. He added that he was angry because the goats had entered his farm and as a punishment, he poisoned them to death. The goats were found dead near his house, he told the police, adding that he contacted the veterinarian who confirmed that the goats were poisoned.
