New tree plantation policy advised for housing schemes

Heat intensity is increasing worldwide due to climate change, says Sindh Environment Minister Ismail Rahoo

Given rising temperatures due to the climate change phenomenon, the Sindh government has decided to issue environmental NOCs to new housing schemes and societies subject to the condition that they plant trees.

An important meeting took place under Sindh Environment Minister Ismail Rahoo, attended by Sindh Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) Director General Naeem Mughal and other officers.

Rahoo directed Mughal to formulate new tree planting policies for housing schemes in the province because of the rising temperature.

He said a tree-planting campaign should be launched on housing schemes and highways across Sindh, including Karachi, collaborating with the concerned agencies. At the same time, it was decided that authorities would take action against the tree-cutting mafias.

Ismail Rahoo added that due to climate change, heat intensity is increasing worldwide.
