Police form teams to arrest culprits

RAWALPINDI:

A 50-year-old newspaper hawker, Hanif Abbasi, was shot dead by unidentified assailants in broad daylight in the Rasool Nagar area of Sadiqabad.

The family of the slain said that Abbasi was standing outside his house when he noticed some suspects stealing money from a neighbour. Hanif Abbasi hit the suspects with a brick as they were fleeing on a motorbike, but one of the fleeing accused opened fire.

As a result, Abbasi sustained four bullets that seriously injured him and he died on the spot.

Sadiqabad police collected necessary evidence from the crime scene and shifted the body to the Benazir Bhutto Hospital for a post-mortem.

A police spokesman said that CPO Umar Saeed Malik had taken notice of the incident and sought a report from SP Rawal.

He has also ordered the immediate arrest of the suspects.

The CPO, along with senior officers also inspected the crime scene and directed the arrest of the accused.

According to the spokesperson, special teams have been formed to apprehend the culprits. Forensic teams have also collected evidence from the crime scene. A case of the incident has been registered at the Sadiqabad police station.
