LAHORE:

Punjab Chief Minister Hamza Shehbaz said on Sunday that all political parties would have to reach an accord on the revival of national economy, upholding the Constitution and the rule of law.

He was addressing a ceremony during his visit to the Sundas Foundation on the World Thalassaemia Day.

He highlighted that the problems of the country had mounted to such an extent that collective efforts would be needed to find their solution. He urged the political parties of Balochistan, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and Sindh to sit together to find ways for solving the problems.

He said the parties would have to unite on an agenda irrespective of their politics. It is inevitable for Pakistan to become prosperous and developed, he added. A successful politician is one who holds the spirit to serve the humanity, he highlighted.

The chief minister emphasised that time has come that all political parties should unite for the revival of the national economy. “Pakistan is at the crossroads and we need to make urgent decisions,” he added. The CM appreciated the performance of Sundas Foundation and remarked that the Punjab government would continue to fully support such institutions. Chief Minister Hamza Shehbaz enquired after the child patients suffering from thalasseamia and haemophilia. He also prayed for their early recovery.

He visited the dental surgery, physiotherapy, lab and nursing departments and appreciated the facilities being provided for the treatment of the children by the foundation.

Hamza Shehbaz remarked that the Sundas Foundation is at the forefront to serve the distressed humanity.

Punjab Assembly Members Khawaja Salman Rafique, Khawaja Imran Nazir, Majid Zahoor, Sundas Foundation president Yaseen Khan, and senior officials were also present on the occasion. The chief minister highlighted in his message to promote awareness on the World Thalassaemia Day that a vigorous campaign should be launched and pursued continuously to prevent the fatal disease.

Meanwhile, the chief minister took notice of problems being faced by farmers in the timely cultivation of cotton, especially shortage of water, and sought a report in this regard.
