A criminal who was involved in 21 cases of the heinous crime was killed during a police encounter in the jurisdiction of Saddar Wah Police Station on Saturday.

The police said that the night between Friday and Saturday, they received information about the presence of Tariq Khan aka Tariqa at his native house. Police teams reached his house and Tariq was killed during the encounter. He was shot in the head and died on the spot, they added. The body was shifted to Tehsil Head Quarter Taxila for autopsy.

Tariq was a sign of terror in the area and he was wanted by Wah Police in miscellaneous cases. Over 30 first information reports (FIRs) of different categories were registered against this wanted criminal. Police said that he was the companion of a criminal named Hamza alias Ranga who was also killed in a firing incident recently.

City Police Officer Omar Saeed Malik said that nobody would be allowed to loot or upset citizens through criminal activities. Rawalpindi Police would continue their efforts without any fear and discrimination to exterminate crime, he added.

Meanwhile, police apprehended two suspects for attempting to rape an 8-year-old girl, including a teacher who assaulted a pupil.

Naseerabad police said that a plaintiff told them that his nephew used to go to Ustad Afzal to get education. A case has been registered against the teacher.

In another incident, Saddar Wah police arrested an accused Hasnain for trying to rape an 8-year-old girl. The victim's mother appealed to the police and said her daughter went to the shop across the street where Hasnain tried to rape her in a deserted area. Police registered a case and arrested the accused.

Superintendent Police (SP) Potohar Rana Abdul Wahab said that incidents like child abuse and women rape cases are unendurable. Arrested accused will be brought before the court with solid evidence so that they can be punished.
