The families of the deceased have taken the bodies to their homes at Defense Phase VIII, declining to talk the media.

According to the police officials, the accident took place due to high speed. Several accidents have been reported in the recent past at Do Darya in which many precious lives have been lost. The accidents have not stopped despite placement of barriers on the Sea View and construction of speed breakers at various points near Do Darya.

South district SSP Traffic Ghulam Nabi Kerio said that the driver of the vehicle was either speeding or talking on the phone.

SSP Kerio said the place where the accident took place is not populated and therefore, people come here for speed tests and illegal racing.

Traffic police continue to warn drivers, issue traffic challans and even detain underage drivers, SSP Kerio said adding, "unless the parents discipline the children, juvenile delinquency like illegal car and bike racing cannot be stopped."

Though the traffic police detain underage drivers and release them on an undertaking by parents, in Friday's accidents, all of the victims were young adults.
