Two crushed to death by passenger bus in Haripur
Two young men died when a passenger bus rammed into a motorcycle near GT Road New Court on Friday.
Rescue 1122 teams reached the spot immediately after receiving information about the accident.
Police said that one of the deceased was identified as 17-year-old Hikmat while a man named Rehmatullah was seriously injured and was shifted to Haripur Trauma Center. Later, he was referred to a hospital in Abbottabad.
The victims belong to Haripur Afghan Camp No. 12.
Meanwhile, Haripur Additional Assistant Commissioner-II Muhammad Faraz Qureshi inspected Khanpur Dam and different boating stands around the dam during Eid holidays and sealed two illegal stands violating a ban.
The boating stands were sealed for breaching the Section 144 ban on bathing and failing to provide bathing jackets to tourists.
When the Assistant Commissioner was briefed, he issued instructions to the SHO that actions should be taken against those who violate laws.
Sources said that Assistant Commissioner Khanpur Noorul Haq had sent a letter to SHO Khanpur against the owner of the Shohal parking on the banks of Khanpur Dam. After the Canal View Park administration sealed the parking lot, instructions were given to take legal action against the park owners for violating the official seal.
A boat caught fire at Khanpur Dam on the second day of Eid. However, no human loss was reported due to swift rescue efforts.
On Friday, owing to the increasing temperatures and snow melting after about two months water level of the Tarbela dam increased to 1407.23 feet which was earlier remained at 1392, only 11 feet above dead level.
Seven power generation units of the Tarbela Dam have been shut down due to the low water level in the lake while power production capacity has also increased to 1145 megawatts.
According to the Tarbela Dam officials, the water level of the Tarbela dam increased to 1407.23 feet, only ten power generation units were producing 1145 megawatts of electricity and they are also not working at full capacity either.
The Tarbela dam officials disclosed that due to the increased water inflow in the Tarbela dam reservoir which was recorded at 71700 cusec feet water outflow remained at 53600 cusec feet to cater to the agriculture and drinking water needs of Punjab and Sind provinces.
Tarbela dam also released 800 cusec feet of water for Pehur High-Level Canal (PHLC) to supply water for some areas of KPK for irrigation.
