Gusts blow at 50kmph through city

Highest wind velocity of 50kmph was recorded in Gadap, Superhighway, Malir, Gulshan-e-Maymar

KARACHI:

Moderately strong winds with a maximum speed of 50kmph flowed through the city on Monday due to which temperature also saw a drastic cut be several degrees Celsius.

According to forecasts, weather in the city is likely to remain mild during the three days of Eid.

The effects of the weather system intruding from Iran into the west of Balochistan and further down southwards towards Karachi and the coastal districts of Thatta and Badin caused unusual winds in Karachi on Monday.

The highest wind velocity of 50kmph was recorded in Gadap, Superhighway, Malir, Gulshan-e-Maymar and other suburbs of the city, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department.

The maximum temperature was recorded at 35.5 degrees Celsius. It is to be noted that on Saturday the temperature in the city was 40.6 degrees while on Sunday it was 39.5 degrees.

According to forecasts, wind speed may also be high today (Tuesday) as well, but the intensity of winds will be less than Monday.

According to the met office, the weather is expected to be mild during the three days of Eid.

Meanwhile, the maximum temperature in the city is expected to be between 34 and 36 degrees Celsius.
