ISLAMABAD:

The Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI)’s United Business Group (UBG) on Monday submitted a set of 40 growth and export-oriented proposals to the federal government, aimed at accelerating the pace of trade activities besides restoring the confidence of foreign and domestic investors with a basket of incentives.

Chairing the maiden online UBG core committee meeting, Chairman Shahzad Ali Malik told participants from across the country that before submission all proposals were discussed threadbare and a team of top business experts further polished and gave them final shape.

He said that all proposals were mainly aimed at ensuring growth-focused and business-friendly environment to boost economic activities in the wake of coronavirus pandemic, prevailing political turmoil and economic upheaval gripping the country.

He said that Pakistan was passing through crucial times due to the deadly pandemic, Russian-Ukraine war and political chaos and at a time of such uncertainty, the business community had come forward with a clear vision to come out of the quagmire.

UBG, in consultation with all stakeholders, framed the proposals, which would help the government to revive the economy through the upcoming budget, he added.

Malik said that the private sector wanted to supplement the new government’s efforts for economic revival, adding that joint proposals would help make the budget business-friendly, which would result in robust export-led growth.
