ABBOTABAD:

The provincial government has decided to uplift the historical Jalal Baba Auditorium and has allocated Rs11 million for the purpose. This was announced by the Hazara Commissioner on Friday.

The commissioner stressed on the need to rehabilitate the auditorium and expressed his dissatisfaction over the lack of maintenance work of the building.

The auditorium, which is named after a famous activist Khan Bahadur Jalaluddin Khan, was built during the government of General Ziaul Haq, and became a hub of cultural and educational activities.

However, the building kept deteriorating due to lack of interest shown by the provincial government.

Following the demands of local cultural and literary groups, the commissioner took the initiative and approved Rs11 million for the auditorium’s maintenance and face-lifting.
