‘Younus optimistic, unperturbed despite snub’
KARACHI:
As the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) prepares to serve a fresh show-cause notice to Younus Khan, the former captain has chosen to concentrate on his county stint and has remained unperturbed by the on-going tussle.
The PCB, according to its legal adviser Talib Rizvi, is awaiting the return of chairman Ijaz Butt from Sri Lanka to issue the notice but Younus, according to sources close to him, has opted to stay clear of more controversy and decided to concentrate on performing for Surrey.
“Younus is just focusing on his county stint,” the source told The Express Tribune. “He just wants to do well for Surrey in the on-going Twenty20 competition. He’s reluctant to make any statements at this point in time as he wishes to avoid further controversies.”
The PCB chairman had expressed his displeasure following statements by Younus’ lawyer Ahmed Qayyum against the board following the one-man tribunal’s decision to lift the indefinite ban on the former captain.
“Being a senior batsman with solid credentials, Younus thought he deserved a place in the team, especially with decent performance in the last domestic competition played in Pakistan, but he’s happy and enjoying his cricket.”
