Stringent security plan adopted for Eid

Police to implement a three-layered security plan using CCTV and thorough checks

Lahore Police has developed a comprehensive security plan on the eve of Chand Raat and Eid-ul-Fitr, in the wake of the nationwide security situation.

Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Lahore, DIG Bilal Siddique Kamyana outlined details of the security plan, stating that more than 8000 police officers would be deployed on the upcoming Chand Raat and Eid-ul-Fitr.

Accordingly, as many as 6 SPs, 35 DSPs, 83 SHOs and over 373 subordinates will be on duty on Eid.

CCPO Kamyana informed that there are more than 5000 mosques in the city which have been categorized according to their sensitivity.

According to a Lahore Police spokesperson, 218 mosques are in category “A”, 775 mosques in category “B” and 4046 mosques in category “C” would be provided foolproof security during Eid. The 190 open places of the city where Eid prayers will take place would be provided complete security.

The CCPO further said that Anti-Riot Force (ARF), Special Protection Unit, Dolphin Squad and Police Response Unit (PRU) personnel would be on high alert at their posts and ensure effective patrolling and checking of citizens at sensitive locations.

Search, sweep and combing operations, snap checks, biometric verification and all other preventive measures have already been adopted to restrain antipeace elements from creating any untoward situation.

Citizens will be provided three layers security through checking mechanism at mosques, parks and other public places.

Metal detectors and walk through gates along with CCTV cameras would be used, while snipers would be deployed on rooftops to keep an eye on any suspicious persons or activity.

Strict action would be taken against persons involved in aerial firing, one-wheeling and hooliganism on Chand Raat and Eid.

All vehicles, motor bikes and persons would be thoroughly checked at Exit and Entrance points of the city.

Preventive measures have been adopted against antisocial elements and their data has been updated to stop such culprits to disturb peace of the city.

The CCPO hoped that citizens would provide full support to the Lahore Police to ensure peace in the city during Eid-ul-Fitr.
