Polio drive scheduled for May 23

Polio is a big issue for the country; therefore, we will have to strive for its eradication, says DC

Deputy Commissioner Umar Sher Chattha has said negligence would not be tolerated in the forthcoming polio immunization campaign starting from May 23.

He chaired a meeting regarding arrangements for the campaign at the DC office on Friday, attended by the District health officer (DHO), focal persons, representatives of World Health Organisation (WHO) and other officials concerned.

“Polio is a big issue for the country; therefore, we will have to strive for its eradication,” the DC said. He emphasised that immunisation of every child below five years of age of the city would be ensured.

Meanwhile, the DC issued special instructions to district officers and assistant commissioners to monitor the supply chain of the Ramazan bazaars, to ensure the smooth supply and sale of commodities at all bazaars. He said that Ramazan bazaars would remain functional until the 30th of Ramazan.
