Murree administration braces for Eid rush

Security arrangements finalised for tourists visiting hill resort

The Murree administration has finalised security and other arrangements to facilitate tourists visiting the hill station during Eidul Fitr and in the summer season.

The Eid holidays of all staff concerned has been cancelled to ensure the security of the tourists who are planning to throng the country’s beautiful hill resort.

In this regard, a meeting was held in Murree under the chair of Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi to review the arrangements for providing facilities and ensure the security of tourists during Eidul Fitr and summer season. The meeting was attended by the Murree administration officials, police and Rescue 1122 and officials.

It was decided in the meeting to cancel the holidays of all officials of departments concerned including the Murree administration during Eidul Fitr.

The Rawalpindi deputy commissioner said that full security would be provided to the tourists visiting Murree for during Eid. He said that no misbehave with tourists visiting Murree will be tolerated in. He said that said that traffic plan should be followed by tourists visiting Murree during Eid holidays and all concerned departments should ensure coordination.

Meanwhile, Lahore High Court Rawalpindi bench Judge Chaudhry Abdul Aziz adjourned the hearing in the Murree tragedy case till April 29. The court held that the decision of the case will be announced immediately after the Eidul Fitr holidays.

When the hearing resumed on Thursday, officials of the disaster management, Rescue 1122, TMA Murree, the district administration and other agencies showed up in the court.

The Department of Environmental Protection deputy director told the court that when the construction of Murree Expressway started in 2008, it was pitch dark on all sides and now there were hundreds of lights in Murree.

The court asked the official what action had been taken asgainst illegal constructions in Murree. The official replied “we make reports on all illegal constructions and send them to the agencies concerned”.
