Two Pakistan Army soldiers embraced martyrdom while fighting gallantly against terrorists who launched an attack on security forces in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa’s South Waziristan district on Tuesday, military said.

Terrorists fired upon security forces in Sararogha area of the tribal district bordering Afghanistan, military’s media wing, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), said in a statement. “Own troops initiated a prompt response. However, during intense exchange of fire, two soldiers, having fought gallantly, embraced Shahadat,” it said.

The martyred soldiers are identified as Lance Naik Umar Ali Khan, a 26-year-old resident of Bannu and Sepoy Muhammad Sirajud Din, a 23-year-old resident of DI Khan.

According to the ISPR, an area clearance operation is being carried out to eliminate any terrorists found in the area.

“Pakistan Army is determined to eliminate the menace of terrorism and such sacrifices of our brave soldiers further strengthen our resolve,” it maintained.

In a similar incident earlier this month, a Pakistan Army officer and soldier embraced martyrdom during an exchange of fire between security forces and terrorists in the tribal district.

“On night 11/12 April 2022, fire exchange took place between security forces and terrorists in general area Angoor Adda, South Waziristan District,” the ISPR said.

Troops effectively engaged the terrorist’s location and killed two militants. “Weapon and ammunition were also recovered from the terrorists,” it added.

The ISPR said the militants remained actively involved in terrorist activities against security forces.

Despite change of government in neighbouring Afghanistan terrorists continue to attack from Afghanistan soil. In order to stop enemy attacks a well thought out offensive approach to deal with this menace is the need of the hour. We all in Pakistan s different walks of life need to be united to quel enemy s guns and ammunition coming from Afghan soil once for all.
