Shaan Shahid calls out Shoaib Akhtar for wishing Sachin but not Imran Khan
Former cricketer Shoaib Akhtar wished Sachin Tendulkar, his Indian counterpart, on his birthday with a picture from their sporting days together. As wholesome as the gesture was, it apparently did not sit well with actor Shaan Shahid and his political affiliations. The Khuda Ke Liye actor called out the fast bowler for remembering to wish Tendulkar but not the skipper and former prime minister, Imran Khan.
On Sunday, April 24, Akhtar took to Twitter and shared a picture where he’s passing a water bottle to Tendulkar clicked at one of their test matches. He wrote, “Happy birthday, Sachin. Hope you're having a wonderful day.”
Under the comment section, a bitter PTI supporter in Shahid wrote, “Wah bhai inki to yaad hai. (Wow, brother, you remember his birthday.)” He further reminded the cricketer of his silence on Khan’s birthday on October 5, last year. “Ek bhi message nahi apkay twitter account per, bhai? (There’s not even a single message [for him] on your Twitter account, brother?)”
Shahid has vocalised his support for Imran Khan in the past as well and especially now since the latter was ousted from the government. During his jalsa in Lahore on April 22nd, Shahid took to the stage to renounce his support and loyalty to his leader. He later took to the microblogging site and wrote, “I see you all standing strong with Imran Khan. Flags clutched tightly in the hands of the old and young, with prayers in every breath, a belief in every heart for a better Pakistan. I see you all following our dream.”
