QUETTA:

At least two colliers died on Monday in Balochistan’s Dukki district which is famous for mineral resources.

However, it is pertinent to mention that the coal miners died due to an electric shock while working deep inside a mine. This is a rare occurrence as miners mostly die inside mines after accumulation of methane gas with no safety exit to escape.

Levies sources confirmed that the miners were working deep inside the mine when they died of electric shocks. Both the victims belonged to neighboring Afghanistan.

Rescue workers and fellow coal miners retrieved the bodies of the miners from the mine. The bodies were shifted to district headquarters hospital Dukki. Hospital administration handed over the bodies to the heirs of the victims after the completion of necessary medico-legal formalities.

Hazardous and unsafe working conditions inside coal mines of Balochistan have claimed scores of precious human lives. Such incidents in coal mines of Balochistan in general and Dukki in particular have become order of the day.

Minimum opportunities of livelihood force the people of Balochistan to put their lives at stake by choosing the perilous profession of mining.
