The minimal bridal look is a trend we all needed oh-so badly!
Bollywood just saw its most anticipated wedding of the year in full swing and that’s all everyone is talking about lately. After celebrity couple Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt’s intimate wedding, people are talking about how Bollywood actors, who are dressed to the nines for events and films all year long, have time and again chosen to go with minimal makeup for their big days.
After a thread of conversation started around why minimal makeup is all the rage amongst brides nowadays, famed makeup artist Natasha Ali Lakhani took to Instagram, upon popular demand, with a compilation of her favourite Bollywood brides and rated the makeup in order of preference.
Actor Anushka Sharma, who married Indian cricketer Virat Kohli in 2017, topped Natasha’s list. “Who doesn’t love a Bollywood bride? I thought I’d compile some looks I liked most of these Bollywood beauties at their weddings in order of preference,” read the caption of her post which contained a series of pictures of Bollywood actors on their wedding days.

While most brides are caked with layers and layers of makeup on their big days, Anushka kept things to a minimal. The superstar went for an au natural, no-makeup-makeup look for the main day which makes a lot of sense since brides are already decked up with layers of jewellery and a heavy outfit. There really is no need for the makeup to be ultra-glam too.
“The first one being my favourite was Anushka’s look” read the post as the main image flashed a close up picture of the Sultan actor. “I felt that her fresh face paired with a soft rose pink makeup was ethereal and I loved the flowers in her hair.”
Second on Natasha’s list was Sonam Kapoor Ahuja’s Mehendi look. “My second favourite was Sonam at her Mehendi with her hair being the focal point. It was just stunning and completely went with her makeup and outfit, ever so beautifully,” she wrote. The Veere Di Wedding star wore a gold and white lehenga at her Mehendi in May 2018. She finished the elegant look with a dewy base, winged eyeliner and pink lips for the celebration, while her hair was decorated in a traditional braid with mogra.

“From Deepika’s wedding, my favourite [look] hands down was her white saree look” further read the caption. “The bronze makeup and slicked-back hair were really striking,” wrote Natasha as she referred to her ivory and gold veil by Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla which Padukone chose for her Mumbai reception.

She concluded her post by sharing how “ interesting’ it is “ to see women that have the entire world, as far as glamour goes, at their fingertips, make the choices that they make.” Natasha believes that brides choose and create their looks based on their individual love stories, and that “at the end of the day, a smiling bride pretty much makes anything look beautiful.”
