Robbery suspects held with CCTV footage help

Motorcycle found in the possession of the accused was stolen within the limits of Azizabad police station

Soldier Bazaar Police claimed to have arrested two suspects involved in street crimes and vehicle lifting and recovered weapons, snatched mobile phones and a stolen motorcycle from them.

Police managed to arrest the suspects with the help of CCTV footage and stressed that presence of security cameras at business premises helps in identifying the suspects. According to a spokesperson of police for Zone East, a CCTV video had went viral on social media in which three motorcyclists were seen robbing a general store during Iftar in Soldier Bazaar area on Thursday.

Upon receiving the report of the incident, the police started searching for the accused with the help of the footage and on the information received from informers, arrested the two of the three accused involved in the incident, Shehzad Qamaruddin and Farhan Hanif. According to the spokesman, the motorcycle found in the possession of the accused was stolen within the limits of Azizabad police station.

The arrested suspects during the preliminary investigation have confessed their involvement in various incidents of street crimes in several areas including Gulshan-e-Iqbal and Sharifabad. After their disclosure, information was obtained from the concerned police stations and it was found that two police stations had FIRs against such incidents. According to police, the arrested suspects are wearing the same clothes as seen in their CCTV footage.
