Dengue awareness walk held in Haripur

Official says eradication of disease is possible with a clean environment

HARIPUR:

The District Health Authority under the supervision of Taxila Assistant Commissioner Marhaba Naimat organised a dengue awareness walk.

Muhammad Ehsan Waqar, Israr Ali, Dr. Syed Asad Ali, Sheikh Qamar, local dignitaries and a large number of health workers. The participants were holding banners inscribed with messages about dengue eradication and awareness.

Speaking on the occasion, Marhaba Naimat and DDHO Dr Sara Qadeer said that eradication of dengue is possible with a clean environment. Dengue is not to be feared but to be eradicated, they added.

It is the national duty of all of us to keep our surroundings clean and play our part in eradicating dengue. Before the arrival of the monsoon, we must stop its growth so that the epidemic does not spread.

The health officials briefed the assistant commissioner on the performance of the dengue team.

At the end of the walk, the assistant commissioner and participants also distributed pamphlets on dengue prevention among the people.

This is the season of dengue breeding and the public should cooperate fully with the relevant authorities, said a health official.

Three injured on road

Three men were injured in a traffic accident in Khanpur on Sunday.

Police said that a motorcycle collided with a van near Tarnawa, injuring 23-year-old Ahmed, 20-year-old Ammar and 20-year-old Abu Bakar.

After receiving information about the accident, Rescue 1122 workers reached the spot and provided first aid to the injured.

Ammar was later transferred to a trauma center because he suffered serious injuries.

Police said that the accident took place when the victims were returning from Rawalpindi after bathing in the Tarnawa canal.
