Couple shot dead over free-will marriage

A couple who had recently contracted marriage against the will of their family members was allegedly shot dead near the Chowk Pandori area of Kalar Syedan.

The couple had moved to Kallar Syedan from Landi Kotal a few days ago after contract marriage of their own free choice, police said.

Police said that the bodies of a man and a woman were found near a brick kiln near Chowk Pandori.

According to the preliminary investigation, the bodies have been identified as 23-year-old Muhammad Saeed and 21-year-old Asiya. According to police sources, both were married.

The couple was living in a slum near the brick kiln to escape from their families. Both were killed by a pistol fire.

CPO Omar Saeed Malik has sought a report about the murder, a police spokesman said.
