From Kareena to KJo: who wore what at Ranbir, Alia's wedding
Bollywood stars Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor married each other in a low-key ceremony in Mumbai on Thursday. Alia, 29 and, Ranbir, 39, have been dating for five years but have maintained a low-profile relationship, apart from occasional pictures on social media and rare appearances together.
Both she and Ranbir come from film families and several Bollywood actors including Kareena Kapoor attended the ceremony. The close friends and family of the bride and the groom were dressed to the nines for the couple's big day. Here's a lowdown on who wore what at Bollywood's biggest wedding.
Kareena Kapoor Khan and Saif Ali Khan
The famous Bollywood couple, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Saif Ali Khan stepped out in colour-coordinated outfits for the former's cousin's wedding. Kareena looked stunning in a pastel pink Manish Malhotra saree with zaree and tilla work while Saif looked suave in a matching kurta, paired with an ivory pajama and waistcoat.
Karisma Kapoor
Karisma Kapoor, unlike her sister, went for a pop of colour for Ranbir and Alia's wedding. Her ivory embroidered Manish Malhotra saree was paired with a detailed tangerine-coloured blouse. For jewellery, Karisma went for a studded headband and traditional Kundan earrings.
Riddhima Kapoor Sahni and Neetu Kapoor
The mother and sister of the groom, Riddhima Kapoor Sahni and Neetu Kapoor opted for Abujani Sandeep Khosla ensembles for Ranbir's big day. While Riddhima chose a monochrome gold lehenga choli with an elaborate dupatta for the wedding, her mother, Neetu, went for a more vibrant option. The sister of the groom completed her look with a messy hairdo and some stunning emeralds for jewellery.
Karan Johar
There's no Bollywood without the ace filmmaker Karan Johar. The director amped up his styling game as he arrived in a pink Manish Malhotra sherwani with a matching pair of trousers and a dupatta.
The ceremony was held at Kapoor’s house in the upmarket Mumbai suburb of Bandra. Guests were given strict instructions not to share pictures or videos from the ceremony.
“Today, surrounded by our family and friends, at home ... in our favourite spot — the balcony we’ve spent the last five years of our relationship — we got married,” the actor said in a social media post.
Alia’s last Bollywood release in theatres, Gangubai Kathaiwadi, made more than two billion rupees ($26 million) at the box office after its release in February.
