Student killed over enmity
Fighting erupted between two student groups, killing one youth and injuring another. Police said 26-year-old Fazal Usman, a resident of Chak Kala, went with his cousins Imran Zafar and Muhammad Akhtar and his friend Muhammad Ali Shah, to the Waterland Swimming Pool on Bypass Road.
Another group of about 12 students was present at the pool, who tortured Fazal’s group and opened fire on them, killing Fazal on the spot, while injuring his friend, Muhammad Ali Shah.
Sadar Jalalpur Jattan police station registered an FIR No. 169/22, under the provisions of 302,324,148/149 against the accused. Abdul Rehman alias Mann, Zaman alias Bale Shah, Asad, and nine unidentified youths were charged with allegedly killing Fazal and injuring Muhammad Ali Shah, on the report of his cousin Naveed Zafar. According to DSP Jalalpur Jattan Hafiz Imtiaz, a day earlier, Fazal and his friends had tortured a young man of the accused group by taking him off a passenger bus on its way to Jalalpur Jattan. Abdul Rehman's group tortured him in retaliation, eventually killing him.
Over 12 cases of fighting, attempted murder and arms possession were also registered against the slain Fazal at Jalalpur Jattan, Sadar Gujarat Police Station, though most of them had already been settled.
On the other hand, DPO Gujarat Omar Salamat directed police to take action in view of the incident by seeking lists of ongoing feuds between students in various colleges in Gujarat.
