Gang of ‘extortionist’ mechanics held

Reports revealed that the accused and his accomplices also looted Rs53,000 from a citizen

Preedy police arrested the gang leader, Nasir Niaz, who harassed civilians and extorted money under the pretext of repairing and vehicles. During the interrogation, Niaz confessed that he and his accomplices hangout near the spare parts market and stop citizens to help them in car repair and decor. When citizens stop, everyone in the gang begins to fix things like wipers, polishing the body, cleaning dashboard and interior and even though the customers continue to protest that they do not need these services.

Niaz told the police that wehen the gang members complete the work, they force the person to pay for the unwanted extra services.

If a person refuses to pay, they threaten him. Reports revealed that the accused and his accomplices also looted Rs53,000 from a citizen, Engineer Ghaffar, who had come home from abroad on March 22.

Police are carrying out raids to apprehend his other accomplices. Further investigation has been launched by filing a lawsuit 299/2022 against the arrested accused.
