BAJAUR:

A school teacher was killed in a bomb blast in Mamond tehsil, Bajaur tribal district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) on Wednesday.

He is the fifth teacher who has been killed either in a bomb blast or firing incident in the recent past in Bajaur.

Police told The Express Tribune that Mufti Shafiullah was an Arabic teacher in Government High School Badan and he was targeted in a roadside bomb attack as he was on his way to school as per his daily routine.

“Mufti Shaifullah was going to school. As per his habit he walked to school and during his walk an IED device exploded near him. He was left seriously injured in the explosion and rushed to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries,” district police officer (DPO) Bajaur Abdul Sumad Khan told The Express Tribune.

“The deceased was an active member of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F),” he said.

It may be mentioned here that so far five teachers have been killed in this fashion in Bajaur in the past one year. All of them were affiliated with JUI-F.

On the other hand All Teachers Association Bajaur voiced its serious concern over the targeting of yet another teacher in the district.

The president of the association Amanullah said that government has failed completely to provide protection to the teachers.

Addressing a press conference he said that five teachers have been killed in the district and police failed to arrest those responsible.

“If our demands are ignored by the government then we, along with students, will take to the streets to record our protest,” he added.
