Outgoing chief minister says PTI, allies united under Imran’s leadership

Outgoing Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar and Governor Umar Sarfraz Cheema held discussions on Wednesday on the election of the new CM and the prevailing political situation.

The governor said on the occasion that Punjab Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi was the ruling party's candidate for the post of chief minister.

The party leadership, as well as all the MPAs, were following a consensus strategy for success in the election, he added.

The chief minister expressed confidence that Pervaiz Elahi would succeed.

He said the PTI and its allies were united under the leadership of former prime minister Imran Khan.

Chief Minister Buzdar also asserted in a statement that the nation would continue to stand with its leader Imran Khan he was striving for the welfare of the coming generations.

He said Khan was a statesman who had taught the Pakistanis the value of self-reliance and national character. Every conscientious person was standing with him, Buzdar added.

He also claimed that a culture of merit and transparency was introduced by the PTI in the province.

He said the district development package of Rs360 billion had helped to fulfil the vision of the development of remote areas that had been kept backward in the past.
