Two army men, five policemen martyred in separate attacks

Two terrorists were also killed in return fire by troops; weapons and ammunition were recovered from their possession

Two army men and five policemen were killed in two separate terrorist attacks in South Waziristan and DI Khan districts of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P).

Major Shujaat Hussain, resident of Toba Tek Singh and Sepoy Imran Khan, resident of Naseerabad embraced shahadat when their post at Angoor Ada, South Waziristan was attacked.

Two terrorists were also killed in return fire by troops. Weapons and ammunition were recovered from their possession.

Similarly, five policemen were killed when two police mobiles were ambushed by militants in Kulachi tehsil of Dera Ismail Khan on Monday night.

Police told The Express Tribune that around 10 o’clock on Monday night miscreants opened fire at two police vehicles in which five policemen were killed and DSP Fazal Subhan was injured.

“Four vehicles were on patrol in the area and SHO as well DSP were also with them when the attack happened,” he said.

“The attackers fired at the vehicles and used RPG-7 shoulder-fired rockets after which one mobile caught fire as a result five policemen lost their lives. Some were burnt to death,” he said.

“Head constable Kamran, Constable Meerz Ali, Constable Jameshed, Constable Munawar and driver Constable Abdur Rehman are among the dead,” he said, adding that DSP Fazal Subhan was also injured in the attack.

The last rites of the deceased policemen were offered at police lines in DI Khan with full guard of honour. Later the coffins were sent to ancestral graveyard for burial.

The attackers managed to escape after the attack taking full advantage of the darkness.
