'I am not writing Suno Chanda 3,' hit sitcom's writer clarifies

Saima Akram Chaudhry had recently declared that she may find the motivation to pen a third season

Hit sitcom Suno Chanda's writer Saima Akram Chaudhry, who, following the success of her most recent Ramazan offerings, declared that she will pen a third season for the Iqra Aziz and Farhan Saeed starrer if fans continued to shower the same love, has now clarified that another installment of the show will not be happening.

Urging her fans to look forward instead of the past, Saima started off by saying, "I am not writing Suno Chanda 3, I am not writing Chupke Chupke 2, I am not writing Ishq Jaleebi 2." In a message on her Instagram Stories, she went on to reveal, "I am writing Neeli Khoti, I am writing Chaand Tara, I am writing just a light mood romcom."

Asking everyone to be happy and stay away from seasons 2 or 3, she went on to reinstate that "season tou pehla he achcha hota hai," suggested that the rest are mostly attempts at milking views and ratings from already existing, successful narratives and formulas. "The rest only bank on high expectations and serve disappointment. Love you all," she concluded.

Earlier, Saima had shared on the photo-sharing app, “I am so overwhelmed by the response of my fans. This is the love I have been carrying since Suno Chanda season one. If my fans showered the same love for Hum Tum and Chaudhry and Sons, it is my promise, that I am going to write Suno Chanda season 3 -- for the love of Suno Chanda.”

In 2021, cast member Nabeel Zuberi had confirmed that a third season of the hit sitcom would not be happening. Responding to a query, he had said, "Sorry to update you guys, but there will be no Suno Chanda season 3."

Saima’s message, albeit, gave hope to Suno Chanda fans eager to see more of their favourite characters. The second season came to an end with Iqra's character Jiya, aching to go to the UK, and Farhan's character Arsal informing her that he has bought a ticket and is accompanying her on the trip. Since Haroon had tweeted that the third season might be set in the UK, the audience was hoping to see what happens next in the couple's journey.

It seems the makers have now officially decided to let bygones, be bygones, and so should the viewers.
