Allama Iqbal Express escapes disaster
Lahore. Allama Iqbal Express narrowly escaped a major terrorist attack on Saturday when Sialkot Railways Police SHO Irfan Ashraf took timely action and arrested three terrorists before they could carry out the attack.
Terrorists Shakarullah, Mushtaq and Ghulam Mustafa opened the railway track shortly before the arrival of the train. The SHO, who was patrolling at the time, acted in a timely manner and arrested the suspects and recovered railway material from them.
The three terrorists were also charged with terrorism clauses under Section 126 of the Railways Act, 1890.
Futher investigation was also launched into the incident.
Railways Police Inspector General (IG) Faisal Shahkar, while appreciating SHO Ashraf’s performance, said that capable and hardworking officers are the pride of the department. He also called on all officers and employees to perform their duties responsibly so that those who travel by train have a safe and comfortable journey.
