Indians slam Swara Bhaskar after she lauds Pakistan's SC ruling
In a landmark unanimous ruling, the Supreme Court on Thursday set aside National Assembly Deputy Speaker Qasim Suri’s ruling to dismiss the no-trust resolution against Prime Minister Imran Khan and the subsequent dissolution of the lower house of parliament by President Arif Alvi on the premier’s advice. The decision divided Pakistanis as many spoke in favour of the verdict while others opposed it strongly.
Several artists, too, shared their two cents on the matter. Now, Bollywood actor Swara Bhaskar has also shared her thoughts on the same. Bhaskar, who is known for being politically active on Twitter and taking a stand for Indian Muslims, lauded the judiciary for upholding the law.
"Looks like the Supreme Court of Pakistan stood up for its country and citizens and not their government," tweeted the Ranjhanaa star, who has been a staunch critic of the Indian government. Taking a jibe at the ruling party, Bhaskar added, "So apparently it is possible. Sigh!"
The actor's take was met with severe criticism.
Previously, Pakistani celebrities, who had previously been tweeting in Imran Khan's favour, aired their disapproval. The PM, however, addressed the nation on Friday after chairing a cabinet meeting. He assured that he would continue to fight till the last ball.
