KMC improving underpass: Wahab

Says other underpasses and bridges located in Central District are also being improved

KARACHI:

The Karachi Administrator Murtaza Wahab has said that road is being reconstructed at Mohsin Bhopali underpass in Nazimabad. The long-standing problem of rainwater drainage in the underpass is also being solved.

Repair of the Mohsin Bhopali Underpass will facilitate transportation to the Sindh Industrial and Trading Estate (SITE) area and the people of Central District. It will also reduce travel time, the administrator said.

He expressed these views while inspecting the on-going repair work of Mohsin Bhopali Underpass during his visit to Central District Nazimabad Wednesday night. Concerned officers of Karachi Metropolitan Corporation were also present on occasion. Wahab said that we would address the problems that the citizens face.

He said that there were road breakdowns and drainage problems which caused difficulties for the traffic passing through this underpass. He added that we have decided to start work immediately.

The administrator said that there were also complaints of the flooding of the underpass during rains due to a faulty drainage system, but now it is being fixed.

He said that other underpasses and bridges located in Central District are also being improved.

"The expansion joints of the bridges are being replaced and repaired. It is gratifying that underground drainage works are being completed before constructing all the roads in Karachi to prevent sewerage overflow," he added.

Wahab said that there is scope to improve the infrastructure of Karachi, and the city administration is making every effort to keep the main roads and arteries in good condition.

"In particular, maintenance of underpasses and flyovers is underway to maintain traffic flow," he added.
