Prices go unchecked in Abbottabad
Local administration fails to keep a check on the skyrocketing prices of essential food items in the Abbottabad district. This has occurred despite the formation of at least 30 price fixation committees by the Deputy Commissioner for the holy month of Ramazan.
Meat sellers are charging as much as they want, around Rs750 to Rs1400. Milk and yogurt prices have also increased from Rs120 to Rs140 and Rs140 to Rs180 respectively. Prices of fruits vegetables jumped to more than double from the first day of Ramazan. The prices of onion, tomato, watermelon, and others increased. Fruit sellers are also charging very high prices for bananas, apples, and other essential items. Items are also of poor quality.

The public has requested the attention of the district administration to act swiftly to provide relief from the overcharging of food items. Barely any action has been taken by the local magistrates and special teams. Only one meat shop was sealed by Additional Assistant Commissioner Sher Ali after complaints by a citizen.
Government officials say that action will be taken on the complaints as they are supposed to raid different parts of the district.
