CM approves subsidy on flour, edibles

Orders crackdown against hoarders

Chief Minister Balochistan, Mir Quddus Bizenjo has taken notice of skyrocketing prices of commodities during the holy month of Ramazan in the province and ordered the provision of subsidy on flour and other edibles.

CM Bizenjo chaired a high-level meeting on Tuesday to review the availability of food items in the province during Ramazan. Provincial ministers, divisional commissioners and officials participated in the meeting.

“Price control committees should ensure official prices of commodities,” CM Bizenjo directed the related departments. He ordered divisional commissioners and price control committees to take strict action against hoarders.

He said price control committees should ensure the availability of quality food, vegetables and commodities for the masses during the sacred month of Ramazan.

He said that the Balochistan Food Authority should take effective action against those involved in selling sub-standard food items. Bizenjo stressed that the people should be given maximum relief during Ramazan.

He directed the provincial Zakat Department to initiate the release of zakat funds and distribution to deserving people. The meeting decided to subsidize flour and other food items.

The meeting decided that subsidies will be given at the district level for each district.

Directing joint action to the Food Department, Industry Department and Divisional Commissioner

Utility Store Corporation was directed to ensure the availability of ample quantity of groceries at Utility Stores.

The administration of all districts, with the cooperation of local traders, has made it possible to stabilize prices and establish cheap markets.

Fool-proof security should be provided during the Ramazan and taraweeh prayers.
