Malir Cantt police arrest alleged TTP operative

As per police, Sardar was among hundreds of TTP sleeper cells lying low in the city

Malir Cantt police claimed to have arrested a suspected terrorist belonging to the banned Tehreeke-Taliban Pakistan during a raid at a hideout on the night between Thursday and Friday.

According to police, accused Sardar Khan had taken up residence in Orangi Town after slipping out of Waziristan and quietly settling in Karachi. As per police, Sardar was among hundreds of TTP sleeper cells lying low in the city and ready to jump into action - a looming terror threat for the nation.

Police recovered five packets of explosives, a battery, a packet of ball bearings and wires from the accused's possession. Investigatores checking the background of the suspect said that as per information shared by the intelligence agencies, Sardar Khan had joined TTP in 2003.

He went through the basic training and specialises in making and installing IED devices. He had attacked an NGO's office in Dera Ghazi Khan district and the FC in Fort Tank, in which ten personnel were martyred. A case against the accused is registered, and further investigation has started.
