Residents have been left at the mercy of robbers. In the past couple of months, they have committed several robberies in Phase 8 within the limits of Model Police Station, Rawat.

Locals say they have become easy targets for the robbers. The victims protested against the local police and DSP Saddar Circle. They allege that they are at the mercy of robbers and thieves for the last few months.

Residents claimed that these robbers are looting them in connivance with the police.

They appealed to the CPO Rawalpindi Omar Saeed Malik and IG Punjab Rao Sardar to take notice.

Recently, four armed robbers broke into the house of Syed Imran Akbar Zaidi, took his family hostage and got away with Rs35,000 in cash and mobile phones. Earlier, robbers also entered the house of Syed Ajmal Hussain Shah and snatched gold jewellery worth Rs1.8m and Rs1 million in cash.

In a separate incident, robbers broke into a shop and stole Rs100,000 in cash from salesman Muhammad Adil. In another instance, three armed robbers entered a plaza in Phase 7 and stole an electric coil worth Rs700,000 from a construction manager named Bilal Ali.

Meanwhile, a schoolteacher allegedly assaulted a 10-year-old student in Kotli Sattian on Thursday.
