Govt prioritising industrial expansion
The government will extend all possible support to the industries for stabilising the economy, boosting economic growth, eliminating unemployment and improving the living standards of people, said Senate Deputy Chairman Mirza Muhammad Afridi.
Speaking at the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) on Wednesday, he said that traders and industrialists had a key role to play in the development and prosperity of the country.
He appreciated the RCCI for playing an important role in the development of the nation by introducing “Made in Pakistan” products at the international level.
“The government is prioritising measures to solve the problems being faced by the industries,” he said. “Economic growth is dependent on industrial development, therefore, further expansion of the industrial base is the top priority of the government.”
The Senate deputy chairman said that the government was taking special steps and focusing on solving the problems of traders, industrialists and investors.
Solid steps were being taken to ensure uninterrupted supply of electricity and gas to the industries in order to alleviate the hardships of the industrial sector, he said.
He emphasised that the economy was strengthening due to government policies.
“Stock market is functioning well and there are signs of improvement in the economy,” he said. “As a result of the restoration of law and order, business activities are gaining momentum and investor confidence is being restored.”
He saw vast opportunities of investment and trade in Pakistan, which would benefit domestic and international investors as well as businessmen.
