Young Stunners call off Peshawar concert citing security concerns, 'poor crowd control'

Talha Anjum aired his disappointment after he and Talha Yunus travelled all the way for first show in the city.

Poor management, hurling objects and expletives, seem to have become a running theme for the live Pakistani music scene as of late, especially since Young Stunners are the latest to have called off their concert citing security concerns and event managerial issues.

The popular rap duo was scheduled to perform in Peshawar on March 28, yesterday, as per Talha Anjum’s statement on Twitter. The rapper flocked to the micro-blogging site early Tuesday morning to share his ordeal. He alleged that had he and fellow rapper Talha Yunus went ahead with their performance, people could have suffered injuries “or worse”.

Sadly, it was also the first time the two were supposed to perform in Peshawar. “Couldn’t play in Peshawar last night because of the uncertain security situation and poor crowd control,” Anjum tweeted. “If we [had] went ahead [with our show], there were high chances of people [getting] injured or worse.”

He then added, “This was the first time we came all the way to Peshawar only to play this show for our fans out here. I am disappointed things didn’t work out.” Anjum concluded with an apology and promised the Young Stunners will return to the city again. “With an apology, I’d just like to say we will be back soon and better equipped. Sorry, love and respect!”

Earlier in March, Asim Azhar had to cancel his show due to similar reasons. The singer was scheduled to perform at Kinnaird College for Women, Lahore, on March 11, but according to those present at the venue, concert-goers fainted, with some even suffering serious injuries due to a stampede. The Ghalat Fehmi crooner took to Instagram to share an apology note clarifying his position and offered to help those affected by the mismanagement.

In December last year, someone even threw an unidentified object at Anjum during his performance. A video of him on social media even saw him lashing out at this attendee, telling them to come face to face instead of hiding behind a crowd, throwing objects.

While confronting this person, who refused to come forward, Anjum announced “You f***** my mood,” rather furiously on stage. However, the Young Stunners did not get off the stage and carried on with their performance, as mentioned by concertgoers on Twitter.
