Sindh chief justice seeks report on Pooja Kumari’s murder
Chief Justice of Sindh High Court (SHC) Justice Ahmed Ali Sheikh has taken notice of Pooja Kumari's murder and has demanded a report from the DIG and SSP of Sukkur police.
According to the Registrar Sindh High Court (SHC) Chief Justice Ahmed Ali Sheikh took stern notice of murder of Hindu girl Pooja Kumari in Rohri during an attempt to kidnap her.
As per the office of the registrar, the top judge of Sindh has summoned a report from DIGP Sukkur and SSP Sukkur on Tuesday (today). The court has also ordered both the officers to appear in person.
According to the Registrar High Court, notice of Kumari's murder was taken on media reports, according to which the victim had been gone missing and was later found dead in Rohri a few days ago. A young girl from the Hindu community was shot dead in Sukkur on last Monday, drawing widespread condemnation from several quarters of the country.
Pooja Kumari, 18, was targeted at her home near the Chhuahra Mandi area over her refusal to marry the accused. Station House Officer Bashir Jagirani had told the media that the assailant, later identified as Wahid Bux Lashari and two of his aides, barged into Kumari's house and opened fire on her. The victim’s father had filed an FIR and within a day police arrested Lashari.
