Two acquitted in drug case for lack of evidence
Model Trial Court East has acquitted two accused in the drug possession case.
In Karachi City Court, the model trial court ruled in the drug possession case. The prosecution failed to prove the crime against the accused. The court acquitted the accused.
The suspects include Khalid and Abdul Rauf. Khalid was in jail on judicial remand while Abdul Rauf was on bail. The court ordered the jail superintendent to release Khalid. The court ruled that the accused should be released if not wanted in any other case.
Accused, Khalid had said in his statement that he was taking a passenger to Nawabshah when the police stopped him at Sabzi Mandi. He said the police also took Rs40,000, a gold pendant, and a mobile phone from him while the other people were released by police after taking bribe. He said, he was locked in a false lock up when he asked for his money and other goods. According to police, 38g of opium and 22kg of hashish were recovered from the accused's vehicle during the search, and other accomplices of the accused had managed to escape. A case was registered against the accused in Mubina Town police station.
